The ultimate packing guide

The ultimate packing guide

It’s that time of the year when the plans have been made and are a few days away from getting into action. For me, the Christmas season is my absolute best time of the year umh because (1) it’s the holiday season – I get to relax and think about the year that was versus what’s to come (2) I am either spending time with family or exploring somewhere new. I have said this countless of times here, I love to travel. What doesn’t excite me though is the process of getting all packed up and ready to gerrarahia.

I don’t even understand how most times my luggage is overweight and I have to pay for the excess baggage. With most times, half the things packed aren’t used. No ma’am, not this time. This time, I have followed a few steps that although I cannot boast of being an expert packer anytime soon, I can say I have a grip on things. If you find yourself in the same dilemma described here – and don’t be shy, we all need a little help sometimes – read on:

// Start early

Unbelievable how the small things actually do matter. My dad used to do this all the time. He placed his case in the corner of the room and as the days went by, he would throw a few items in it. By the travel date, he would be first in the car all packed and ready. And I never heard him say he forgot this or that. It goes without saying that my Dad is extremely organized. So do the same thing a week or so before the travel date and you won’t find yourself 2 minutes from the airport screaming “I left my passport.”

// Pair your outfits

Count the number of days you will spend away and put aside some outfits for the activities of the day. This will save you excess baggage fees and time the day of. You do not want to be stressing about what to wear when you’re on holiday. You want to be stressing about why the cocktails aren’t reaching you fast enough.

// Roll your outfits

I actually just learnt this recently. Rolling clothes saves you space but also keeps your clothes crease free. Nice, no? If you are going away for a long time, think about getting those vacuum seal bags – I can only think about the Ikea vacuum bags at the moment – more clothes, more space.

I hope you find this helpful. I have also created a guide of the things you should not forget, feel free to download and use it here.

Happy packing and Happy Holidays 🙂

Peace and love.x

    Very true El, I pair my outfits and always choose comfort. Party dresses, cocktail dresses and floral dresses work for me coz it’s an entirely full attire that just needs accessories and you hit go. I have been rolling cloths but did not realize that that it saved me from having to press my cloths. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2016 to you, JP and entire family
