Wow, I can bet it was my wedding day just a while ago….not to try to keep it fresh but January 10th was pretty epic. But this post is nothing close to anything wedding related, it is about baking. I have had a passion for cooking and creating new recipes from a few years back. If you haven’t taken a hint from my Instagram or Twitter feed, you will know I am a self-confessed foodie.
So I was having a look through Pinterest trying to explore something new to try out and came across a few strawberry and tart like recipes. Most required a whole lot of ingredients and time, two of the things I don’t enjoy when it comes to cooking. There I was, voila, this recipe was born…my berry bake. I have no sweet tooth whatsoever but if that kinda thing floats your boat, be my guest to remix this to what suits you.
What you will need
// Flour, Butter, Sugar – to taste, Cold/room temp H2O, one egg, mix of berries – strawberries, raspberries, blue/blackberries (I didn’t use these) & custard or cream (for garnish)
Tools of the trade
// Rolling pin, Chopping board, Baking dish
// Mix the flour, sugar & butter together until crumbled
// Add water till the mixture sticks (the reason for cold water is so that the butter does not melt). Combine the mix till you make a non-sticky ball of yellow
// Then roll over so you get a flat pastry base
// Cut your berries and place onto the centre of the pastry & fold as desired
// Brush over with your beaten egg, sprinkle some sugar and place into the oven
// Done did it. Easy as pie 🙂
